Name: Steve Fish

Club: Clayton Le Moors

Where are you from?: Knuzden, near Blackburn

Age: 57

Occupation: Aircraft Engineer

How long have you been running?: 26 years

How long have you been fell running?: 21 years

Why fell running?: Did the local Great Hameldon Hill race, for the first time in 1990, as a road runner. Thoroughly enjoying it and saw the light and have never looked back.

Favourite Race(s) why?: Ben Nevis (for the challenge and the atmosphere of the whole weekend). Burnsall Classic (classic route and a real sense of history surrounds this event). Great Whernside (a PROPER fell race).

Greatest achievements (or disasters!): Staying healthy enough to run into my late fifties!

Do you follow a training programme?: Not really, I just try to race as often as I can nowadays. I prefer races to training.

What is your weekly mileage?: 20-25 miles.

Who is your sporting hero / villain!: Kenny Stuart / Can't be doing with the typical modern footballers, far too much money and no morals.

Favourite food: Italian.

Favourite drink: Thornbridge Jaipur (India Pale Ale).

Favourite shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330.

Favourite piece of running kit: Seal Skinz socks (allow me to keep running in winter with my poor circulation).

Favourite music / band: Rock music / Led Zeppelin.

Favourite movie / TV programme: Pulp Fiction / Mrs Brown's Boys.

Do you have any other hobbies?: Cycling and Car Rallying (I used to compete, but just spectate nowadays)

Give us an interesting fact / something we wouldn't know about you!: I've had my 15 minutes of fame on the pitch at Ewood Park! I used to work on the Stretcher Bearers' team, we carried off some famous players in my 13 years

Complete the sentence: If I wasn't fell running I would be...: ...very unfulfilled.

Complete the sentence: I have never...: ...done the Wasdale or Borrowdale races. One day, before I'm too old and knackered, I might get myself fit enough to tackle them.

Anything else you want to add?: This coming season will only be my third as a BOFRA member. I wish I'd discovered the association sooner, really good races and friendly fellow competitors.
